Mt. Nun Expedition (7135m)

The story

The Highest Peak of the Nun-Kun Massif

Mount Nun stands at 7,135 metres above the Suru Valley and is a serious high-altitude objective involving glacier travel, snow and ice climbing, fixed ropes and sustained effort above 6,000m.

Expedition story

A mountain journey shaped by terrain, weather, and summit-day decisions.

Ascent notes

What the climb feels like on the mountain.

01

The 2027 plan starts in Delhi for team introductions and IMF formalities, then uses several days in Leh and Korzok to build altitude progressively.

02

Before the main Mount Nun phase, participants attempt a 6,000m-class trekking peak. This gives both climbers and guides meaningful information about acclimatization response before committing to the higher camps.

03

From Tangol, the team establishes Base Camp, refreshes crampon, ice-axe, fixed-rope, Jumar and descent skills, and carries a load to Camp 1 before the summit rotation.

04

The final climb moves through Camp 1, Camp 2 and a summit camp at approximately 6,400m. Weather, route conditions, individual health and team safety determine whether the summit attempt continues.

05

A maximum of six participants, a 1:1 certified guide ratio, Sherpa fixed-rope support, backup medical oxygen and expedition communications support the programme, but they do not replace prior technical experience or responsible acclimatization.

Why this climb works

Why Mt. Nun Is a Very Difficult 7000m Expedition

The climb asks for steady pacing, acclimatization, mountain movement, and summit-day focus.

Field note

Guided does not mean effortless.

The expedition is manageable because the progression is measured, not because the mountain is casual.

01

Altitude Above 7000m

The summit reaches 7,135m and demands excellent acclimatization, endurance, and calm decision-making in thin air.

02

Glacier Travel and Snow/Ice Terrain

Participants need confidence moving through glaciated terrain and climbing on snow and ice with appropriate personal equipment.

03

Technical Snow & Fixed Ropes

The upper mountain involves steep snow climbing, fixed rope sections, crampons, ice axe use, and rope movement.

04

High Camps Above 6000m

Camp 2 is route dependent and Summit Camp is planned at approximately 6400m, demanding disciplined pacing and recovery.

05

Conditional Summit Decision

The summit attempt proceeds only when weather, route conditions, acclimatization, individual health and overall team safety are suitable.
